At the Aquatic Academy, Infants can start swimming lessons from as early as 6 months of age.
What are Starfish
Infants from 6 Months to 3 Years – or when your preschool child is independent enough to take directions off a teacher
What to expect
- 30 minute class
- Water familiarisation and safety skills
- Learn how to condition your baby to go under the water safely.
- Basic water safety skills such as fall in simulations and gripping the edge.
- Buoyancy and floatation.
- Parent and infant classes in a group format
- 1:8 Parents and Infants in each class
Lessons have a maximum of 9 infants with parents in one class. The teacher is specifically trained in teaching infant learn to swim and holds an extension qualification to help you enjoy the formative swimming lessons with your baby.

This is dependent on previous swimming experience, social and emotional development, and the student’s ability to listen and take direction from a teacher.
Preschool swimming lessons begin by introducing foundation swimming and water safety skills:

Swim Stroke Development Lessons for Young Swimmers
Stroke Development is ideal for children who are ready to move beyond basic swimming skills and start learning proper techniques in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and more.
Our Swim Stroke Development program provides a clear progression from learn-to-swim classes into a structured and comprehensive training environment. It’s designed to refine technique across all four competitive strokes, while gradually introducing students to the fundamentals of performance swimming and preparing them for future competitive or fitness-focused pathways.
